Traditional oil removal technology dates back 100 years. The patented MyCelx polymer is a complete break from previously available technologies as it exhibits cohesive properties in the presence of hydrocarbons. In other words, the polymer has the ability to bind together and coagulate hydrocarbons, specifically altering oils and water soluble organics into a water repellant mass. The result is that when the polymer is integrated into filter media, it enables the instant and permanent removal of hydrocarbons without developing pressure or blocking flow.

With the highest, most efficient level of oil removal available, MyCelx Clean Water Technology offers its customers the assurance of meeting discharge requirements and achieving environmental sustainability in the most cost effective manner possible.

Hydrophobic (water repellant)
The MyCelx polymer repels water and causes hydrocarbons and other contaminants to coagulate upon contact. This chemical property ensures that MyCelx infused filtration media will reject water and avoid waterlogged conditions, significantly reducing weight in comparison to alternative technologies.

Viscoelastic (low pressure drop)
Oil and hydrocarbons which come in contact with MyCelx–infused media become dense as water sheers through the filtration media. Therefore, there is minimal pressure drop across the filters, a problem often found with other technologies.

No waste by-products
The MyCelx polymer is synthesized from naturally occurring oils with 100% conversion from raw materials into the polymer, resulting in no waste by-products from the manufacturing process.

Compliant with strict Produced Water Discharge (PWT) regulations
As regulatory requirements are becoming increasingly stringent, companies around the world are striving to exceed regulatory requirements and achieve even lower levels of hydrocarbons in discharged water. MyCelx Clean Water Technology guarantees a 0-10 ppm in water discharge, well below the regulatory requirement of 29 ppm.

Smaller footprint and lower weight
MyCelx delivers the most efficient clean water technology with the smallest footprint and lowest weight, usually one tenth of the footprint of equivalent adsorbent media. In deep-water offshore drilling, where space is at a premium, this is a significant advantage over traditional technology methods.
